    both 4sp autos that I've owned sat around 2000RPM @ 100km/h.

    the 5sp manual sits around 2600RPM @ 100km/h.

the 5sp auto final drive ratio is closer to the manual than the 4sp auto, and thus will use more fuel on the highway.

Doing a quick review of my fuel spreadsheet, found that my current average consumption is the lowest it's ever been at 10.362L/100km's (91 tanks of data since June 2008). Been a fair bit of highway driving lately, so I dare say that will trend back up to over 10.4l/100km's.

I need to work out how to change my poll entry from 400-450 to 600+.

i look at everybody's consumption on here ans think either
    - there is something wrong with my car
    - its the way i drive
    - or its the trips i make

i travel everyday 4km to work and then 4km back no traffic but a few red lights..... and then outside of that alot of similar sort of trips..... i average 15.5 - 17 goes up to 19 if really bad traffic.....
however as soon as i get it on more open road either motorways or 60km/h to 80km/h zones with no traffic and lights (1am-4am) it drops right down....never put the trip computer just for one of these trips so not sure but it drops down to between 11l/100km to 13l/100km.... if i set it to actual consumption when cruising at 80km it varies between 2.8 (no accel and 5.8 normal accel......
average seems to be 430-480per tank driving only to work
when i do drives up the coast or to penrith or down south etc it goes anywhere between 500-600km per tank....
i think it is the style of trips i do plus my driving style......

Matt 1985- If you are getting 430-480 km from a tank in local running, and you fill up when the warning light comes on - about 50 litres to fill you up again. This equates to a consumption of around 11-12 litres per 100 Km.
    Seems about average to me.
Perhaps your on-board computer is not calculating correctly.

i was extrapolating the 16.5l/100 km to the full tank @ 71 litres to give 430l per tank..... never fill up once per week and have never gone below 1/4..... however i must say some weeks i'm at half a tank after only 200km (400km per tank).... some times i'm at just above 1/4 after 400km (550km per tank)so it varies alot depending on the trips i make i suppose......
